Aruande olulisemate teemade määratlemine

Säästva arengu aruandes püüab Viru Keemia Grupp oma tegevuse tutvustamisel kajastada huvitatud poolte jaoks päevakohaseid küsimusi.

Säästva arengu aruandes püüab Viru Keemia Grupp oma tegevuse tutvustamisel kajastada huvitatud poolte jaoks päevakohaseid küsimusi.

Aruandes käsitletavate teemade ja vastavate näitajate valimisel analüüsime:

  • tegevuse mõju majandusele ning sotsiaalsele ja looduskeskkonnale, selle ulatuse ja iseloomu monitooringu tulemusi;
  • huvitatud pooltega tehtava koostöö sisu ja nende teabepäringuid;
  • Eesti ja rahvusvahelise taseme uuringuid tööstusharu säästva arengu juhtimisest ning selle valdkonna aruandeid.

Kontserni ja huvitatud poolte koostöö hindamisel ning poolte jaoks oluliste teemade väljaselgitamisel analüüsiti:

  • GRI standardite soovitusi,
  • massiteabevahendites kontserni kohta avaldatud teateid.

Kirjeldatud analüüsi tulemusena koostati loetelu olulistest teemadest, mida aruandes käsitleda.

Research and monitoring of the Ojamaa mine area started even before the opening of the mine - since 2004, surface water and since 2005 groundwater, has been monitored. In addition, since 2007 we monitor the number of capercaillie in the mine areas, and since 2015, the condition of Muraka swamp.

The new capercaillie monitoring methodology plan was developed in 2020 on behalf of the VKG Kaevandused. It was done to evaluate the effect of noise on the behaviour of capercaillie. The methodology plan was approved by Keskkonnaagentuur in 2021. Ojamaa´s capercaillie monitoring (specimen counting) is now carried out within the framework of national monitoring.

In 2021, groundwaters and surface waters monitoring were started in the area of Uus-Kiviõli II mine.

Financial assistance received from government

In 2022 VKG and Kiviõli Keemiatööstus started to work on a joint project to use the existing shale oil production technology to process plastic waste into oil and gas. The implementation of the project was supported by the resources of the European Regional Development Fund via Enterprise Estonia with a grant of 280,600 euros. VKG part of the grant was 131 663 euros. In 2023, VKG stepped out from a joint project and began to develop the plastic waste pyrolysis project by themselves.
