Важнейшие темы в отчете

Публикуя отчет об устойчивом развитии концерна и представляя свою деятельность, Viru Keemia Grupp пытается осветить актуальные для заинтересованных сторон вопросы.

При публикации информации в отчете были учтены обязательства предприятия, в том числе положения международных документов (например, руководящие принципы Глобального договора ООН).

При выборе наиболее важных тем и соответствующих показателей для включения в отчет мы анализируем:

  • влияние деятельности на экономику, социальную и природную среду, результаты мониторинга ее масштабов и характера;
  • содержание сотрудничества с заинтересованными сторонами и их запросы информации;
  • эстонские и международные исследования практик управления устойчивым развитием в отрасли и отчеты в этой области.

При оценке сотрудничества между концерном и заинтересованными сторонами, а также выявлении значимых вопросов было проанализировано следующее:

  • рекомендации стандартов GRI;
  • результаты мониторинга опубликованных в СМИ сообщений концерна.

В результате был составлен список ключевых вопросов для отчета и выбраны наиболее важные темы.

Research and monitoring of the Ojamaa mine area started even before the opening of the mine - since 2004, surface water and since 2005 groundwater, has been monitored. In addition, since 2007 we monitor the number of capercaillie in the mine areas, and since 2015, the condition of Muraka swamp.

The new capercaillie monitoring methodology plan was developed in 2020 on behalf of the VKG Kaevandused. It was done to evaluate the effect of noise on the behaviour of capercaillie. The methodology plan was approved by Keskkonnaagentuur in 2021. Ojamaa´s capercaillie monitoring (specimen counting) is now carried out within the framework of national monitoring.

In 2021, groundwaters and surface waters monitoring were started in the area of Uus-Kiviõli II mine.

Financial assistance received from government

In 2022 VKG and Kiviõli Keemiatööstus started to work on a joint project to use the existing shale oil production technology to process plastic waste into oil and gas. The implementation of the project was supported by the resources of the European Regional Development Fund via Enterprise Estonia with a grant of 280,600 euros. VKG part of the grant was 131 663 euros. In 2023, VKG stepped out from a joint project and began to develop the plastic waste pyrolysis project by themselves.
