Raivo Vasnu to join the Management Board of Viru Keemia Grupp
Starting from November, Raivo Vasnu, an experienced manager in the industrial sector, is joining the Management Board of Viru Keemia Grupp. At first, Vasnu will commence work in the Group’s Management Board, and starting from 31 March 2025, he will also assume the duties of the long-term member of the Management Board of VKG Oil, Nikolai Petrovitš, who decided to withdraw from office starting from the coming spring.
The chairman of the Management Board of the Group, Ahti Asmann, expressed great satisfaction that the team of VKG has been supplemented by an industry leader with such a diverse leadership experience. “Raivo will bring valuable additional power to the Management Board, helping solve the challenges that the shale oil production sector is facing, and improve reliability and management efficiency. On behalf of the Management Board and Supervisory Board of VKG, I wish Raivo will smoothly settle into his new role and have an exciting time working with us,” Asmann said.
“The proposal of the Management Board of the Group to join the team of VKG was at the same time seriously laden with responsibility and exciting, particularly now when the sector is going through such groundbreaking times. I am grateful to the Group’s Management Board for this trust and believe that I will be able to use my knowledge and experience. Over the years, the current management has succeeded in gathering a professional team and do great work in developing and innovating the oil shale technology, taking production to a very high level and establishing a solid foundation for the future, Raivo Vasnu commented.
Vasnu has an education in chemistry and is a recognised leader who has worked at the head of several international production enterprises. Until summer this year, Raivo worked for five years as the general director of NPM Silmet, a company that produces rare metals and earth metals in Sillamäe. Before going to work in Ida-Virumaa, he worked for six years as the head of the Akzo Nobel Baltic factory and was the COO of Wienerberger AS, the world’s largest producer of ceramic building blocks and bricks. Last year, Raivo received an Estonian state decoration from President Alar Karis and was nominated for the 2023 Industrialist of the Year award.
